Here’s a little reminder that Father’s Day is just around the corner (June 20th), and this surprise portrait gift session might just give you a great idea if you’re stumped for a personal and long-lasting gift for Dad. We had an unusually summery day in May (high of 90 degrees!) but you wouldn’t know it from the sweet smiles on their faces. Mom helped to rally the troops, in pure Super-mom fashion…
These two very funny and very smart young brothers were kind enough to show me around their backyard, and before you knew it, we were off!
And Mom, I’m happy to say I did capture some unguarded smiles in between all the serious hijinks!!!
It’s always nice when I can get Mom in the portraits, too–it wouldn’t be the perfect gift for Dad without her! I want to thank you all–Mom, J. and N. for a really super session. And thanks for the breaks in the cool air and for hanging in there when it got a little too darn hot. I’m hoping Dad will have a nice surprise when he opens his gift. Happy Father’s Day to you and yours!

What do they say about sisters—best friends forever? In this case, they hit the nail right on the head! This 5-year-old and 7-year-old dynamic duo brought all their sisterly love to this Saturday morning photo session.

It was so very nice and easy to get to know you all. Thank you very much J. and M. for showing me around, and for letting me keep up with you. A very special thanks to mom and dad for allowing the girls and I to run a “little” wild, and I can’t forget Grandma J. for her help, too. The pleasure was truly all mine—you are one fantastic family!

One sunny morning at the 11th hour of their 11th day, I was very happy to finally meet new brother and sister twins, R. and A. I am so proud to be counted among their new friends, so I can only imagine how proud their mom, dad and older sisters must be. It was a long wait, but they’re finally here! A very special thanks to mom and dad for a “before” maternity session, and to their big sisters, our very own Curly Girls for kicking off this long-standing photo relationship. I know a new family portrait is in order, so I hope we’ll be able to get together very soon.
Getting to know all about each other — so nice to know they each have a shoulder to lean on.

Interior designer and Cohabitot blogger Nancy Breslin is at it again: a new nursery design for her very own 18-month-old twin girls. And imagine my extreme excitement at seeing their portraits from our 3-month session on the wall above their cribs. I love to see my client’s portrait displays — it’s fantastic to know they are enjoying the photographs, and I hope that’s the case for many years to come.
Miss K. and Miss L. welcomed me into their sun-filled nursery. I can see how happy they are in their spring fresh surroundings.
K. was nice enough to show me around, so I couldn’t help but follow…
And L. gave me that cutey pie look and then the “Aha!” moment — “I remember YOU!”
Such sweet little kids, and ditto that on the whole entire family! Thanks again Nancy for allowing me to capture the new nursery design along with the next chapter in your girls’ lives. Looking forward to catching up with Mr. A. again from behind my camera real soon.

Here’s Baristaville’s very own 2010 Baby New Year, greeting you in all his plump and perfect glory. I never met a baby I didn’t fall head-over-heels for, and little J. had me at “Gooo…!” What a pleasure to meet him, his amazing (and I mean that in all senses of the word!) big brother H., his dear mom and dad, and uncle I., too! Your entire family is just as sunny and warm and generous as all that fantastic sunlight that spilled through your magnificent windows the morning we met. I really had a fantastic time and I hope you all did, too.

Portraits make great gifts, and nothing could be better than a couch loaded to the brim with super cute kids, all in honor of granddad’s birthday! Nope, you’re eyes are not deceiving you — you do see two sets of twins (both under the age of 3) snuggled up on the couch with their older cousins — all beautiful, unique little buds growing in the same family garden. I think these pictures pretty much speak for themselves — we had the best time, and the absolutely most gorgeous natural light I think possible for this momentous session.
Aaah…there’s that family smile in full effect…
…and such bright eyes on these twin-kling stars.
Girls just want to have fun, so they DO! (and big thanks to auntie H. for all her super accessorizing!)

And I would be remiss if I didn’t share my favorite kind of portrait — the “kids being kids” shot that helps tell the whole story — the ups, the downs and the “are we done yets?” I must thank R. and her lovely family for allowing me to capture all the action. I truly hope that granddad will wear a great big smile when he receives his gift. Viva la cousins!

Despite the seriously snowy pounding we’re getting in the area this week, this session for 6 month old twin sisters was a breathe of spring air. I know a pair of happy babies when I see them, and these were some very happy babies! Mom and dad, auntie R. and grandma A. (and me, too!) just beamed as the girls rolled around on the floor making us all laugh and coo (wait a minute…wasn’t that suppose to be the other way around?!).
We were all busy bees buzzing around these two bright little flowers.
And who can resist all that cuddly baby softness?
I can’t imagine anything sweeter than a cutie pie (make that two cutie pies) grabbing chubby little feet — can you? I’d like to see you try!
A big thanks again to little C. and K. and to everyone for a fantastic session that gave me hope that spring is just around the corner…(okay snow, get to melting).

There you are just rowing along through the sea of life with your family of four, and then an incredible thing happens…TWINS are on the way! What joy it will be to have 20 more fingers and 20 more toes to count, and two big sisters to lend a helping hand to mom and dad. Yep, I’m talking about the one and only “Curly Girls”, who are soon to have a new little brother and sister to play with.
Big sister K. is jumping for joy — the babies are almost here! This session happened at 38 weeks…get ready to sing the birthday song (and stay tuned for a sneak peek at the newborns soon!)
I couldn’t be happier for P. & R. and their beautiful, happy family.
And big sister E. is already mommy’s little helper extraordinaire.
Best wishes and much love to you all — I seriously can’t wait to meet the new babies and photograph those first sweet days for you. I’m sure they’ll steal your hearts and mine. See you soon!

Well, you know who you are, and this post’s for you! I’d like to share with you a project I’ve been very excited to work on with another twin mom, Robyn Spritzer, and her team of highly motivated women (many with multiples of their own at home). Their company is Greater Than One Kids and…you guessed it…they’ve been hard at work thinking up new ideas that would help make parents of multiples’ lives a little (or a LOT) easier. I for one am a big fan of innovation that supports family life. And coming from a twin mom (me), I can tell you that life with multiples has its own challenging parenting problems to solve.
It goes without saying—but I’ll say it anyway—I had an absolute blast shooting the promotional images for their product roll-out, and truly enjoyed working with the twins and triplets and their nerves-of-steel moms. Just how do they do it? Well, Greater Than One Kids has their eye on helping parents manage multiples just like child’s play, and who could resist that? I’m tickled pink that Sara Hicks at Party Perfect has featured another celebration (We’re number one!) that I had the very good fortune to photograph. I absolutely LOVE a party. You never need a reason to throw one, but my favorite has to be a birthday bash. There’s an expectation of decorations, whacky hats, silly games, a possible “surprise” element and, of course, cake. And don’t forget the big wish! This universal celebration of life is something we can all appreciate. What kind of party are you planning? Don’t forget your camera!
